Travelling to the Puglia region of Italy from the UK used to involve flights to Naples or Rome then another flight or train south. Now fortunately the low-cost airlines fly direct from the UK to southern Italy. Ryanair have daily flights from Stanstead Airport to Brindisi Airport and Easy Jet from Luton to Bari. Flying time is about 2 ½ hours, and the fares are wonderfully inexpensive.
A visit to Puglia is an adventure for independent travellers the whole region is laced with historic sites and places of interest to visit. If you prefer a relaxing time on the beach you can choose a different beach everyday to enjoy and swim in the cleanest sea waters in Europe.
The sea will also provide you with wonderful fresh fish meals, caught on the day by the local fishermen and served in a local restaurant, or you may prefer to take up a rod and catch your own from the shore, either way you will enjoy accompanying your meal with a glass or two of the regions delicious and inexpensive wines.
